The THED is the high-interrupting member of GE's E150 family: where the standard TED tops out at 18kA, the THED is rated 65kA at 240VAC and 25kA at 480VAC. That extra margin is what you need close to the service entrance or downstream of a large transformer, where available fault current climbs above what a standard-interrupting device can safely clear. Protection is fixed thermal-magnetic with Long-Time and Instantaneous (LI) functions.
