FA34070 - Square D - F-Frame I-Line Molded Case Circuit Breaker - 70 Amp - 3 Pole - 480 Volt
Product images are representative only. Actual product may vary.
The Square D FA34070 is a 70A, 3-pole F-Frame molded case circuit breaker with an I-Line plug-in connection, rated 480VAC and built for Square D I-Line panelboards.
The F-Frame was Square D's workhorse I-Line breaker for decades, and the FA34070 remains the correct part when you need to match an existing panel rather than redesign it. It provides fixed thermal-magnetic Long-Time and Instantaneous (LI) protection with an 18kA interrupting rating at 480VAC and 25kA at 240VAC. The signature Visi-Trip indicator drops the handle to a distinct mid-position on a fault, so technicians can tell an overcurrent trip from a manual shutoff without opening the panel. Square D has superseded the F-Frame with the PowerPacT H-Frame; the HDA36070 is the modern equivalent for new installations, but the FA34070 is the direct fit for legacy service work.

Frequently Asked Questions
What does FA34070 stand for?
F = F-Frame, A = I-Line plug-in with ABC phase sequence, 3 = 3 poles, 4 = 480V class, and 070 = 70 amps.
Is the FA34070 still made?
The F-Frame line has been discontinued by Square D in favor of the PowerPacT H-Frame. The FA34070 remains available as new-old-stock and is the exact fit for existing I-Line panels; the HDA36070 is the current-production equivalent for new work.
What is the interrupting rating of the FA34070?
18kA at 480VAC, 25kA at 240VAC, and 10kA at 250VDC.
What is the Visi-Trip indicator?
A Square D feature in which the handle rests in a distinct middle position after an overcurrent trip, visually separating a fault trip from a manually opened breaker.
Can I use the FA34070 on a 600V system?
No. The "4" in the catalog number designates a 480V maximum rating. For 600V applications use a 600V-class device such as the HJA or BJA series.
What wire sizes does the FA34070 accept?
The lugs accept #14 AWG through 1/0 AWG copper or aluminum conductors.
Will the FA34070 fit in an I-Line panelboard alongside newer H-Frame breakers?
Yes. F-Frame and H-Frame breakers share the same I-Line mounting space, so they can be mixed in the same panelboard.
Is the FA34070 UL listed?
Yes. It is UL 489 listed and CSA certified to C22.2 No. 5, and it is HACR rated for heating, air conditioning, and refrigeration circuits.
